The challenge
A director new to operating an RTO engaged CAQA for structured governance training before the RTO became fully operational. The director understood that early decisions would shape the provider’s compliance culture, risk profile and operational maturity.
What we did
CAQA delivered a governance training program that combined core regulatory content with customised material relevant to the provider’s circumstances. The training explained director obligations, governance responsibilities, risk controls, training and assessment oversight, student protection, workforce compliance and continuous improvement. The session was grounded in practical examples from CAQA’s active consulting work. This allowed the director to see how governance weaknesses emerge in real RTOs: incomplete trainer files, poor assessment validation, weak student support, unclear role allocation, inadequate management review and reactive compliance behaviour.
