The challenge
CAQA has supported prospective buyers, investors and education groups through hundreds of due diligence audits involving RTO acquisitions and transfers of ownership.
What we did
In this case, a prospective buyer engaged CAQA to conduct a compliance appraisal before purchasing an RTO. The buyer wanted to know whether the provider’s registration, systems, scope, student records, assessment practices, staff evidence and governance arrangements were sound. Purchasing an RTO carries significant risk. A provider may appear attractive because it has current registration, a broad scope, student numbers or market presence. However, hidden issues can exist beneath the surface: incomplete trainer evidence, weak validation, inadequate assessment tools, poor student records, unresolved compliance notices, inaccurate marketing, weak governance or financial risk.
