1. The Standards for RTOs 2025 are technology-neutral, but their governance, risk and self-assurance expectations capture every AI tool an RTO deploys. 2. ASQA's own AI Transparency Statement, built on human-in-the-loop control and annual reporting, is the benchmark RTOs should expect to be measured against. 3. Four principles should anchor every AI policy: transparency, accountability and human-in-the-loop, privacy and data protection, and fairness and wellbeing. 4. The centrepiece is a public AI Use and Transparency Policy linked to the Standards, the academic integrity policy, the privacy policy and cyber security arrangements. 5. Governance roles must be defined from the board to the trainer, even where a small RTO concentrates them in one person. 6. A risk-tiered model should match oversight and approval authority to the stakes, from low-risk drafting to high-risk assessment influence. 7. In assessment, AI conditions must be specified per task, tools updated, and AI risks built into validation under Outcome Standards 1.3 to 1.5 and Standard 4.4. 8. In learner support, accuracy, escalation to humans, informed consent on analytics, and accessible alternatives are non-negotiable. 9. Digital and AI readiness must be assessed before deployment, with scaffolding and equitable alternative pathways for learners who need them. 10. AI governance belongs inside self-assurance: piloted, monitored, reviewed annually, staffed by trained people, and evidenced for audit. |
