Attention Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)!
We would like to remind all RTOs that the deadline for submitting the annual Quality Indicator (QI) summary report for 2022 data is fast approaching. The report is due on June 30, 2023. It is crucial to submit your report on time to comply with the Data Provision Requirements 2020 and fulfil your obligations as an RTO registered with the regulatory bodies.
Submitting Your QI Summary Report
To streamline the reporting process and ensure consistency, the national regulatory body of the VET sector, ASQA, has implemented the Quality Indicator webform as the official submission channel for QI summary reports. Please note that ASQA will no longer accept completed QI summary reports submitted via email. Therefore, it is essential that all RTOs utilise the designated web form for their submissions. Exception for Previously Submitted Reports
In case you have already submitted your QI summary report for 2022 data via email, ASQA will accept your report in the format in which you submitted it. The webform should, however, be used for future reporting cycles in order to maintain consistency and streamline the process of obtaining data in the future.
The Importance of Quality Indicator Summary Reports
Quality Indicator summary reports are invaluable tools for RTOs to analyse student and employer feedback. This feedback plays a pivotal role in informing continuous improvement initiatives for training and assessment practices within the vocational education and training sector. Additionally, these reports assist regulatory bodies in understanding how RTOs respond to feedback from their students and employers.
Compliance with Data Provision Requirements
Reporting quality indicator data is a mandatory requirement outlined in the Data Provision Requirements 2020. As an RTO registered with ASQA, it is crucial that you collect and report student and employer feedback accordingly. However, there are exemptions for the 2022 calendar year:
Initial Registration: RTOs that were granted initial registration by ASQA or another registering body after June 30, 2022, are exempt from reporting quality indicator data for 2022.
No Training or Assessment Services: RTOs that did not provide any nationally recognised training or assessment services in the previous calendar year and submitted a 'Nil return' in the data collection for the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) are also exempt.
VET Student Experience Survey (VETSES) Participation: RTOs that participated in the VET Student Experience Survey (VETSES) in the 2022 calendar year are not required to submit additional student data to ASQA. However, they are still obligated to provide employer data.
Continuous Improvement Through Your Responses
It has been suggested by the regulatory body that they value our responses very highly, as they play a major role in determining the continuous evolution of the Quality Indicator summary report on a regular basis. Our feedback and insights shape the future of vocational education and training, benefitting both RTOs and learners alike. By participating in this process, we all can contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the sector's quality and effectiveness.
Start Collecting Feedback Data
To ensure a smooth reporting process, we encourage all RTOs to begin collecting feedback data in the first half of the year. This data should cover the previous calendar year, specifically from January 1 to December 31. Gathering feedback in a timely manner enables you to have comprehensive and accurate information for your Quality Indicator summary report.
