The Government has recently announced that modifications are underway for the My Skills Registered Training Organisation (RTO) portal, which will streamline data maintenance for users. The changes will reduce the number of fields that RTOs are required to maintain, with some data instead being sourced directly from the National Training Register (training.gov.au).
These changes are directed at those registered users who actively utilise the RTO portal, including those associated with prominent organisations such as CAREER CALLING INTERNATIONAL PTY LTD (45459).
A Glimpse Into The Future
The future holds a more user-friendly interface for the portal, one that reduces manual data entry. For instance, the business name of the organisation, which used to be a text field, will be replaced with a dropdown menu featuring names already listed on training.gov.au.
In addition, RTOs will no longer need to maintain certain details on the portal, as they will be pulled directly from the National Training Register. The details include:
- Head office address
- Public enquiries contact information
- Organisation’s website URL
- Availability of Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships
- Campus locations
In an effort to streamline data maintenance further, the option for RTOs to enter a course enrolment page URL has been removed due to its infrequent usage.
The My Skills RTO portal will be temporarily unavailable for a few hours starting at 8 pm (AET) on 7 June 2023. This interruption is necessary to implement these modifications, and it may also affect the search functionality on the My Skills site for a short period.
Managing Users and Updating Information
Users are still able to manage their own users in the RTO Portal, including password resets. More details can be found in the User Guide for easy reference.
Actions for RTOs
As of now, no immediate action is required from the RTOs. Post implementation, RTOs using business names, instead of legal names, will be asked to select their business name from a dropdown menu in My Skills.
To further facilitate this transition, a Q&A document outlining the changes in detail has been prepared. If any queries or concerns arise, users are encouraged to reach out to the My Skills support team at myskillshelp@dewr.gov.au.
These changes are a strategic move to simplify and enhance the My Skills RTO portal experience for users, contributing towards a more streamlined, user-friendly approach to data maintenance.
